Cooking for Blockheads Fabric: Setup Guide for Fabric Players

Compact walnut and stone voxel kitchen with a cream fridge, recipe table and folded fabric cloth

Fabric players can use Cooking for Blockheads too — the mod is published for Fabric alongside Forge and NeoForge. The main thing to watch is the file you download: loader builds are not interchangeable. This Cooking for Blockheads Fabric guide shows how to set it up correctly.

Important: the homepage file is not the Fabric build

Our homepage Download button links to the NeoForge build for Minecraft 26.3. A NeoForge file will not load on Fabric. For Fabric, open the file list on the CurseForge project page or the Modrinth project page and filter by the Fabric loader and your game version.

For some older Minecraft versions the developer also published Fabric files under a separate "Cooking for Blockheads (Fabric)" listing on CurseForge, while newer files are grouped on the main project. Searching the main project page first is the quickest route.

What you need

  • Fabric Loader installed for your game version.
  • Cooking for Blockheads — the Fabric file for your game version.
  • Balm — the Fabric file for the same game version.
  • Any further dependency listed on the Balm or Cooking for Blockheads file page for your version.

Step-by-step on Fabric

  1. Run the Fabric installer and create a profile for your game version.
  2. Launch the profile once to generate the mods folder.
  3. Download the Fabric builds of Cooking for Blockheads and Balm, checking the loader name in each file name.
  4. Check each file page's dependency list and add anything else it marks as required.
  5. Copy the .jar files into mods and launch.
  6. Search the creative inventory for the Cooking Table to confirm the mod loaded.

Using a launcher

Launchers such as the Modrinth App or the CurseForge app can create a Fabric instance and add the mod with its dependencies automatically. This is the easiest option if you're not comfortable managing files by hand. Our Modrinth guide shows the process.

Fabric-specific tips

  • Don't mix loaders. A Forge or NeoForge file in a Fabric mods folder will cause errors or be ignored.
  • Check food-mod ports. Some popular food mods have separate Fabric ports. If you want Farmer's Delight on Fabric, read our Farmer's Delight guide first.
  • Companion mods. Pantry for Blockheads is published for Fabric and NeoForge on recent versions.

Fabric servers

Install the same Fabric files on the server and on every client. A version mismatch between the two is the most common reason players are disconnected on join.

Still not loading?

Open the latest log in your game's logs folder and look for a missing-dependency or wrong-loader message. The troubleshooting guide explains the usual fixes, and the general installation guide covers the full process.
